A few updates here since I’ve been relatively quiet the last while.
Even though I’ve written in the past about the dangers of parenting, the last few months have really been all about family.
Gem, our newborn, is more precious than I could’ve imagined and doing quite well.
Stellar has been exploding with life, questions, and the unavoidable daily tantrums.
My wife and I have sold our place and moved back in with my end of the family. Living with my folks again of course has it’s blessings and challenges as well.
And that’s the bulk of it. We spend our days with one another trying to forge out a new way of living that works for us (ie. living in the red on half a single income, living fuller on less, and actually investing in our passions).
A few things percolating for myself personally…
I’m actually just down the street from our old condo so I’m continuing to root myself further into the community here. We’re in what I think is a beautiful middle-class area of what gangsters call 4-corners as there’s a different ‘ghetto’ at each corner of the block. It’s very diverse and has lots of potential – I’m looking for people to help do something magical in the neighborhood.
There’s a team of five of us that continues to volunteer hours working on a special web project that I hope to launch this year. We can still use some development/design help.
There are sparks going off all over Toronto merging creativity and causes. I’ve got something special in mind for my next solar crash event and I’m hoping to make more connections and collaborations through respaces and the many people doing similar awesome work in the city. Let me know if you’re interested in being a part of all of this.
There’s some other projects I really want to get to soon (including designing a board game – looking for helpers on this too in these early stages), but first things first at the moment… Family calls.
The above rare family photo of us was thanks to Harry Wentland
