What if Christians were humans?

What if we identified ourselves as human beings before all other affiliations?

Before your passions, political leanings, theological bents, orientations, and lifestyle choices; even before something as seemingly central as Christ-follower; What if we embraced ourselves and one another as human first?

Blatantly obvious?  Maybe, but then why are we  so poor at it?  The human population is skyrocketing, but it seems so is our inhumanity.  It’s hard to describe the division, hate, and inequity in our world (or even in our own neighborhoods) as humane.

When we lead with our labels, even the good important ones, we separate ourselves from the rest of humanity.  Before you believed a single truth, you were human.  It’s not hard to see why people find it difficult connecting with all the other qualifiers in our lives when we’re doing such a poor job being human.

Christians are often fixated on Christ being fully God; but he was fully man as well.

Christ was fully and completely the best representation of what it means to be a human being on our planet.

What would our world look like if Christians were more human?

Lon I just had this conversation with my wife this morning before heading out to the gym. I get home and check my e-mail and I have an update from you – BAM! Same thing I was saying. The root problem of all the worlds problems is our humanity. It’s us! Why God made us this way and then wants us to act another way…now that’s beyond me. But, humanity is the basic root issue. Right on brother.
