excellent question. as a pastor, i’ve struggled with feeling isolated from the “front lines”. i work at helping to communicate the way of Jesus and inspire people to live it out. and the more successful we are, the more stories that start to bubble up out of our community of very practical ways that people are living out the way, the more i want to be out there doing it myself.
sure, the way of jesus can be lived out no matter what you’re doing. but i just feel like i’m investing too large a percentage of my time and energy convincing others to take risks, and too little a percentage of my time actually taking those risks myself.

Hey Stephen, thanks for interacting. That’s exactly what i’m getting at.
Pastoring sometimes seems like it’s too much in the books, behind the pulpit, spiritualized, and disengaged from the real world at times to be equated with vibrantly following Christ…. just wierd.
