Christ in the pain…
October 1, 2007

I’ve often said that healing comes as you move out and serve, but sometimes it’s harder to say than others.
This past while I’ve been connecting with people with hurt-filled marriages, addictions, and extreme loneliness.
These aren’t people to be equipped, mobilized, and sent out right now. Sometimes it’s so easy to forget that the mere presence of Christ in the midst of the storm, can be a truly beautiful thing.

yeah, sometimes in ministry we tend to focus or want to focus on the people who seem to have it together, and we forget our true mandate…those that are sick, hurting, and needy.

Yeah Brandon, sometimes we can get so fixed on the ‘mission’ that we forget those who are hurting right here in our midst…

It’s a tough one to balance isn’t it? I’ve seen churches who are so focussed on ‘mission’ that they leave a trail of scattered bodies who should have been given opportunity to heal. At the same time, churches can become so pastoral that they end up going nowhere.

Hey Sam, yup, I hope it’s never an either/or issue in my own life. I really hope htat I’ll be able to see the spectrum of where people are at and helping them all move forward wherever they are.
