Blaze of glory…
September 20, 2007
I was working on a talk for this Sunday and an old Bon Jovi song came up on my random playlist.
Here’s a confession… I’ve been a closet Bon Jovi fan for a good part of my life. I even went to a concert (someone offered me free tickets). And I know, they mostly cater to the middle-aged-women-with-ripped-jeans-and-head-bands-crowd these days, but I can’t deny they’ve got some phenomenal lyrics.
Here’s a bit from Blaze of Glory (off the “Young Guns” soundtrack, also an embarrassingly superb movie in my books)
When you’re brought into this world
They say youre born in sin
Well at least they gave me something
I didnt have to steal or have to winEach night I go to bed
I pray the lord my soul to keep
No I ain’t looking for forgiveness
But before I’m six foot deep
Lord, i got to ask a favor
And Ill hope you’ll understand
cause Ive lived life to the fullest
Let the boy die like a man
Staring down the bullet
Let me make my final stand,Shot down in a blaze of glory
