Stumble Upon

I don’t really ever use stumble upon, but I just added gave it a try yesterday and gave a ‘thumbs up’ to my own site.  Within hours it added over 200 unique hits to this site!

Stumble Upon reveals what an incredible amount of time people have on their hands.  People are willing to just sit there and see what site might randomly load up for them.  It’s also an indication of the overwhelming amount of information now available on the web, and how we can be so aimless in the online world, even one person’s recommendation is enough to capture our attention.

From stumble-upon, to the ipod-shuffle, to the magic 8-ball, to random bible verse generators, as much as we value free-choice in our culture, it seems to be the one thing we keep wanting to abdicate.
